Our February Half Term bulletin follows:

Dear Parents

We would like to update you on some of the changes we have made at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy:

Homework:

At Laisterdyke Leadership Academy we understand the importance of learning and expect our pupils to gain greater independence by providing the challenging learning experiences which empower them to be actively involved in their own learning, reflect on what they have learned and manage their work successfully.  To us homework is important because it helps students make the most of their experience in school. Homework is given to reinforce what has been learned in class, provides practice and helps students develop positive study habits.

We feel that parents are the key to making homework a positive experience for their child. Therefore, we ask parents for their support to ensure students complete rather than avoid doing their homework. To assist you in this matter we have included our homework policy and your child’s homework schedule with this letter. These highlight the amount of homework your son/daughter can expect to receive and how you can support us in making a real difference to your child’s progress, attitude to work and development as an independent learner.

Please see the Homework Timetable and Policy using the following links: Homework Timetable   Homework Policy

DC3 Assessments

Students have completed assessments for DC3 and will be provided with updated attainment and progress information. Reports will be posted home week beginning 25th February for all year groups, please contact you child’s respective Progress Leader to discuss any information on the report.

Uniforms

Please remember to ensure your child is in full school uniform every school day. If you need to purchase additional uniform items, they can be purchased from Natasha’s or The Uniform Shop in Bradford City Centre.

Mobile Phones

Please note mobile phones should not be seen or heard anywhere in the Academy. If a pupil is seen using a mobile phone, they will be asked to switch it off and it will be confiscated. On the first occasion, the pupil can collect the mobile phone from Reception at the end of the day. If it is confiscated a second time, parents will need to collect it from Reception.
