If you’ve been considering your future career options and think teaching could be the right profession for you, a series of free information sessions in Bradford will help you to find out how to take the first step into teaching.

Star Institute, a leading, accredited teacher training provider, is running a series of Initial Teacher Training information sessions this February. The drop-in sessions, taking place at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy on Thornbury Road, are an opportunity for graduates, career changers and school partners to hear about the different routes into teaching and the primary and secondary school training options available through Star Institute. Training advisers will be on hand to answer questions and advise on the training programmes available, the entry criteria, fees and the funding available.

The drop-in sessions take place on Tuesday 5th February and Tuesday 12th February at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy, Thornbury Road, Bradford, BD3 8HE, with two teacher training sessions taking place on each date:

12:00 – 1:00pm Pathways into teaching – for people considering a career in teaching

6:00 – 7:00pm Pathways into teaching – for people considering a career in teaching

As well as supporting people into teaching, Star Institute also offers a range of training and professional development programmes to support all teaching and leadership roles in schools, from newly qualified teachers and aspiring leaders to head teachers and governors. At the events on 5th and 12th February, there will also be an opportunity for teachers in leadership roles to find out about the training and development opportunities for staff in their schools. These sessions will take place from 2.30pm-3.30pm at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy.

Star Institute is the accredited training provider of Star Academies, the multi-academy trust which operates primary and secondary schools nationwide, including five schools in Bradford.

Star Institute offers three routes into primary and secondary teaching through its Star Teachers programme:

·         Route 1 School Centred Initial Teacher Training – a 12 month programme that combines in-school experience, with centre-based training and online tuition.

·         Route 2 Assessment Only – a route which could see you gain qualified teacher status in as little as six weeks.

·         Route 3 Post Graduate Teaching Apprenticeship – an employment based apprenticeship programme running over 4 terms which integrates academic, centre-based learning and on-the-job practical training in schools.

All Initial Teacher Training routes with Star Institute include a Continuing Professional Development programme, to support trainees into teaching roles once they have qualified. 100% of Star Institute’s initial teacher training graduates in 2018 secured a post as a Newly Qualified Teacher.
