Curriculum
BUSINESS
BTEC Business is an optional subject and only available to pupils from Key Stage 4 onwards. This vocational qualification is delivered over 120 guided-learning-hours (equivalent in teaching time to one GCSE), and comprises of both core units and optional units. Pupils learn about key business concepts, and consider the skills involved in starting and running a small business within the context of developing their own business model.
Pupils will be introduced to local and national business contexts and will develop an understanding of how these contexts impact business behaviour and decisions. Pupils will also learn about the different aspects of running a successful business, including business operations, finance, branding and recruitment.

Enrichment Offer
Pupils participate in a national enterprise competition run by Mosaic, where they have the opportunity to prepare a business case for launching their own products. They benefit from mentorship from leading companies such as Morrison’s. Keynote speakers from the business world also regularly attend the academy to offer their advice and insight as part of the academy’s Leadership Lecture Series.
Intervention sessions to consolidate prior learning and maximise progress are at the heart of our delivery model.
