The number of pupils achieving the top GCSE passes at Laisterdyke Leadership Academy has increased by 11%.

49% of our Year 11 pupils achieved at least a ‘standard pass’ in GCSE English and Maths, achieving passes at grades 9 to 4.

34% of our pupils achieved a ‘strong pass’ in both English and Maths, achieving passes at grades 9 to 5.

Paul Johnson, our Principal, said,

“I want to congratulate our pupils on their efforts in a year that has seen them sit the new, tougher GCSE exams in English and Maths. To achieve this double-digit increase in GCSE passes at the top grades is a wonderful achievement.

“I’m delighted to have joined the Academy and look forward to working with Laisterdyke’s dedicated team of staff and supportive parents to build on this year’s results and drive continuous progress for our pupils.”

David Lythgoe, Laisterdyke Leadership Academy’s Executive Principal, added,

“Well done to pupils at Laisterdyke whose hard work has driven up the Academy’s overall performance. This increase in pupils achieving the highest GCSE grades is fantastic news for the entire Laisterdyke family.”

On results day celebrations were underway in the Academy with an increase in the best grades meaning more pupils have secured their top choices of next steps.

Pupil Khadijah Nakhuda achieved grade 9s in both English Literature and English Language, a grade 8 in Maths, in addition to two A*, three As and a level 2 Distinction*.

Arsalan Iftikhar achieved grade 9s in both English Literature and Maths in addition to three A grades in Science.

Both Khadijah and Arsalan are delighted with their successes and each have a solid foundation to go onto A-Level success.

The strength of results at Laisterdyke has meant that pupils have been able to secure places in the Academy’s Sixth Form, which last week saw similar success.
